Dozens of volunteers have joined various causes on a voluntary basis, within the framework of EURC projects

Dozens of volunteers, young men and women, have joined various causes on a voluntary basis, within the projects of the Civil Society Resource Center in Kosovo, which are directly related to the promotion and encouragement of volunteerism in Kosovo.

Today, as we mark the International Day of Volunteering, we highlight the issues addressed through projects throughout this year:

  • The NGO Activism Roots, through the “Build your career through volunteerism” project, has informed over 350 young people about volunteer work and the opportunities that raise them in their careers by helping the community and they have also participated in various volunteer activities, discussions and debate.
  • NGO PIKA, through the project “Save the environment, save the future”, has engaged more than 235 volunteer activists, students of primary schools in the Prizren region, in various activities of cleaning the environment and placing informative signs on the importance of protecting the spaces of common.
  • The individual Granit Sadiku, with the project “Active youth program in the village of Balaj – Rri’ON”, has involved over 40 young people in activities aimed at developing critical thinking, social skills, problem solving and decision-making. valuing volunteering as a contributor to the well-being of society. These 40 young people have been trained to be community advocates, have developed leadership and active citizenship skills, and have also gotten to know group work better, thus becoming agents of change in the community.
  • NGO Auto Moto Touring Klubi Kombëtar, with the project “Volunteers in the field of safety in road traffic and motorsport”, has trained over 40 young volunteers on the importance of safety in road traffic, including them in practical and educational activities. Also, through simplified information leaflets on traffic risk prevention, these volunteers have informed over 500 primary school children, while it is expected that up to 1000 primary school children will be informed by the end of the project.
  • Through the individual project “Roof for paws”, Vesna Generalović has engaged over 20 volunteers who have built 25 ecological lodges for stray dogs in the north of Mitrovica. Also, over 30 people were informed about the importance of responsible ownership and methods for controlling the number of abandoned animals.
  • NGO MONUMENTA, with the project “Touristic potential of Korisha”, through the engagement of experts and volunteers, have managed to identify 10 points of cultural and natural heritage value in the area of Kabashi. The publication “Walking through Kabash” has been published, which includes the narrative for each point of special interest with cultural and natural heritage values in the Kabash area. Also, the walking path has been identified and marked with GPS, with signs and coloring.
  • NGO LENA, through the project “United by Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics” – “United By STEAM”, has engaged about 40 volunteers who have helped create 12 science clubs, in several high schools in the Region of Pristina. These science clubs are made up of students from these schools who have been informed and educated about the importance of science and have also become part of the change in the community.
  • NGO HRN, with the project “Promotion and encouragement of volunteering of Serbian youth in the municipality of Mitrovica” through media activities and social networks are sensitizing and raising the awareness of young people about the importance of volunteering. Media experts have trained about 30 volunteers on the process of creating media material and broadcasting it, on the topic of volunteering in the Mitrovica region.

These projects were developed with the co-financing of the European Union in Kosovo- European Union in Kosovo and the Sweden- Embassy of Sweden in Pristina and are supported through the Resource Center for Civil Society in Kosovo implemented by the Kosovo Foundation for Civil Society (KCSF) and Community Building Mitrovica (CBM).
