“Participatory advocacy” is a module that helps civil society organizations to take an active role in policymaking

Participatory advocacy is an inclusive approach aimed at influencing public policies and decision-making, directly involving citizens and communities at every step of the process. Through participatory advocacy, citizens are not simply represented by others; rather, they are empowered to co-create agendas, participate in consultations, and to keep decision makers accountable.  This process not only increases transparency, but it strengthens democracy, and it provides solutions that respond to real community needs.

For this reason, the School for Activism has included in its curricula the module “Participatory Advocacy”, this is the fifth module of the school, and it is dedicated to CSOs which aim to strengthen their capacities to actively engage in the process of policymaking, building cooperation between civil society and the institutions.

During the two-day training, 20 participants have gained knowledge and experience on:

▪️             Democracy and participatory advocacy, from individual to collective action

▪️           Policymaking cycle

▪️            The role of citizens in the process of policymaking and decision-making

▪️           The Public Consultation Online Platform

▪️            The role of CSOs in the process of European Integration

Lectures for this module were delivered by Mr. Rinor Beka, an expert with extensive experience on program implementation in the field of democracy and governance and Mr. Dren Puka, Executive Director of KCSF with extensive experience in research, advocacy and development of participatory public policies.
